Plenary session
International Tourism. Russia and the World
The Forum’s plenary session focuses on international cooperation in the tourism sector.

Tourism in Russia is at a strategic turning point of rapid development, with a focus on modernizing the tourism industry based on science, technology, innovation, and global cooperation.
The accelerated development of the tourism industry is being driven by the creative and strategic use of digital technologies, the renovation of tourism infrastructure, the modernization of air travel, and reforms of the country’s visa policies, which in turn will help build a bridge of friendship to exchange experience about ways to improve the quality of tourism services based on mutual trust and cooperation between friendly countries.

One of the focuses of such development is the construction of year-round resorts that can ensure a stable flow of tourists throughout the year, as well as the creation of a system of model hotels, which will improve service standards and meet the needs of different types of tourists.
Another important aspect is the programme to promote Russia’s tourism potential on foreign markets, which aims to attract foreign tourists and improve the country’s image as an attractive tourist destination.

Travelling with Pets: Investing in Creating Pet-Friendly Infrastructure
According to the Centre for the Study of Animal Nutrition and Welfare, Russia was home to almost 50 million cats and 25.5 million dogs in 2023. Most pet owners prefer to travel with their four-legged friends, and recently the demand for such travel is undoubtedly on the rise. One indicator of how effective tourism is as a service sector is tourist satisfaction, and today it is crucial to pay attention to creating an environment that is conducive to travelling with pets and the emergence of new centres of attraction in the regions.

Discussion topics:
•Attractiveness of the regions for travellers with pets: which cities are ready to receive tourists?
•Development of tourism infrastructure: are hotels and restaurants ready to welcome our four-legged friends?
•Pet-friendly infrastructure: new points of attraction for people with pets
