Russia Launches E-Visa Service for Foreigners
Tourists from 55 countries will find it easier to come to Russia. The website of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has launched a service for issuing an electronic visa for foreigners.
Citizens of 55 countries, including EU states, can visit the Russian Federation on an electronic visa. The portal notes that the electronic document is issued within no more than 4 days, regardless of weekends and holidays, without a personal visit to the consulate. With a visa, it will be possible to come to Russia once for no more than 16 days as a tourist, with a business or guest visit, to participate in festivals and other events. Unlike a regular visa that goes into your passport, an electronic visa will need to be printed out by the applicant. Alternatively, the applicant will need to save the visa notification in their phone to produce it to the airport official and at the border crossing point.
The Ministry of Economic Development predicts that thanks to the launch of electronic visas, the inbound tourist flow will increase to 10 million people by the end of 2023.
Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Let’s Travel! Russian Tourism Forum Vladimir Zatynayko noted the importance of the innovation, “The electronic tourist visa will open up opportunities for millions of foreigners to visit Russia. We don’t just have unique cultural sites, but also a level of service in the hospitality sector that has grown recently. Citizens of countries whose delegations participated in our Forum in 2023 — Cambodia, Indonesia Myanmar, and others — have also been given the opportunity to come to Russia on an e-visa. The procedure for obtaining the e-visa is quite simple, so we are expecting an increase in the number of foreign tourists already this year. I am sure that we will be able to welcome significantly more foreign delegations at the Let’s Travel! Forum in 2024.”
In 2024, the Let’s Travel! Russian Tourism Forum plans to strengthen the international agenda, including in the discussion of inbound tourism issues, and increase the international exhibition with tourist attractions of foreign countries.
In 2023, delegations from Armenia, Belarus, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Serbia, Myanmar, the Kyrgyz Republic, Cambodia, Uzbekistan and the Philippines took part in the Let’s Travel! Russian Tourism Forum. The Russian Tourism Forum has become the country’s largest tourism event platform.
The fourth Let’s Travel! Russian Tourism Forum will be held in June 2024 in Moscow at the VDNH Exhibition Centre.
