Plenary session ‘Discovering Russia: How Travel is Changing the Country’

Tourism provides a serious boost to country’s economic growth. The development of tourism spurs on related industries – from construction and transport to agriculture and industry. This session will bring together the main ideologists and enthusiasts of the tourism industry, who have proven in practice that investing in tourism generates significant returns. Tourism today is the story of people, not abstract branding. Local residents create what a territory lacks.

Born 20 September 1968 in Saratov.
Graduated from Stankin Moscow State Technological University with a degree in Computer Aided Design, with a Systems Engineer major;
1989: Founded one of the country’s first computer graphics studios, InformatiKa Marketing Service;
1993: Co-founded MediaArts, one of Russia’s largest communication holdings, specialising in advertising and sports marketing in Russia, and managed it for 12 years;
2005 to 2007: General Director of the Sochi 2014 Bid Committee;
2007 to 2014: President of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Organising Committee and the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Organising Committee;
2014 to 2020: President and Executive Board Chairman of the Kontinental Hockey League;
2015 to 2020: Chief Executive Officer of Gazprom-Media Holding;
21 January 2020: Appointed Deputy Prime Minister by presidential executive order;
Awarded the Order for Services to the Fatherland, 2nd Class, the Order of Friendship, the Order of Honour, the Order of St Sergius of Radonezh, 2nd and 3rd Class, and the Golden Olympic Order;

Mr. Dymov was born on 27 August 1971 in Ussuriysk, Primorsky Region.
1988: graduated from the Ussuriysk Suvorov Military School.
1988–1991: studied at the Donetsk Higher military and Political Vocational School.
1991–1993: served for the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the rank of lieutenant.
1999: graduated from the Law Department of the Far East State University.
1994: began his career at Pervorechensk District Court in Vladivostok as Assistant to the Chief of the Court.
1997: co-founded the company Ratimir, which today is the leader of the meat processing industry in the Far East.
2008: the company was successfully sold to investors.
2001: founded the company Dymov.
2003: started up a ceramics manufacturing enterprise in Suzdal, named Dymov Keramika, targeting crafts revival.
2006: launched a bookstore retail chain called Respublika.
Since 2011: Chairman of the public and expert Council for SME under the Moscow Government.
Since 2012: member of the Public Chamber of the Central Federal District, member of the General Council of United Russia and member of the Expert Council in the Open Government.
He is a leading expert of the Strategy 2020 and 2030 Forums and other discussion platforms.
Mr. Dymov is married and has two sons.
